Constituency
A constituency is a geographically defined area in which voters elect a representative (or representatives, in a multi-member constituency) to a legislative body such as a parliament. Constituencies are also known as electoral districts.
There are currently 650 parliamentary constituencies in the UK, each of which has one representative who sits in the House of Commons as a Member of Parliament. Constituency boundaries are reviewed at regular intervals by Boundary Commissions in each of the four UK nations. These Commissions recommend boundary changes as a result of a population change or changes in local government boundaries. The recommended changes must be agreed upon by both Houses of Parliament.
